A vision for growth

4Uni Solutions was created with a vision of helping the Higher Education sector. Institutions are faced with such an array of challenges that it can at times seem difficult to know which direction to take and which problem to tackle first. By founding 4Uni Solutions, my goal is to support not just institutions but also associations and service providers in providing the best solutions that increase the quality of applicant and student experience, achieve institutional growth goals, progress reputational aspirations and live within budget.

No mean feat.

The most common challenge faced by Presidents and CMOs in higher education is the question of how to increase student numbers, increase quality and increase rankings. And often, budget increases will only be provided once results are achieved. A seemingly impossible task. However within every institution’s applicant pipeline there is untapped quantity and quality which, once identified, can be converted into the necessary quality and quantity to meet short term growth goals. And likewise, by correctly identifying weak points in rankings, improvements can be made to bring the school to a more representative position. In both cases, the answer is in the data.

The vision of 4Uni however is not just to crunch numbers but to align institutional strategy and portfolio design with marketing and sales intelligence. To provide staff with the most suitable digital tools and training, and to professionalise the applicant experience so that targets are achieved efficiently and staff can spend their limited time interacting personally with the most relevant applicants for their programmes rather than processing endless spreadsheets of data. Or worse, piles of paper!

Higher Education faces the impact of inflation as much as any industry, but revenue from student recruitment is unpredictable and unstable, at the mercy of immigration restrictions, visa processing problems, wars and geopolitical swings. Universities in developed countries are suffering from declining birth rates restricting the numbers of local students and making them more dependent on international arrivals and English language education. And yet many countries are seeing an increase in the number of degree programmes offered and places available. Meanwhile, there is a shortage of experienced administrators, with high staff turnover and hiring problems plaguing institutions in many countries.

None of these factors can be easily influenced by an individual institution, if at all, but we believe that they can be more than compensated for with the right strategy, the right ideas and the right technology.
